2000 - 2010
Dr. Ravi Ahuja, Professor at the Univ. of Florida, starts consulting for railroads and realizes the need for optimization solutions for this industry. He recruits four of his Ph.D. students as the first set of employees of Optym and starts begins building software solutions, which are licensed by leading railroads in North America.
2011 - 2015
Optym brings its learnings from rail into new industry verticals. Through a development partnership with Southwest Airlines, Optym builds a new generation of optimization products for airline network planning and also licenses its first linehaul optimization product to Saia. Both products are highly successful and generate significant value for their clients.
2016 - 2020
Furthering partnerships with airlines, Optym develops SkySuite, a full suite of network planning products for the passenger airline industry. As Optym’s SkySuite reaches scale, Amadeus, a leading airline software provider for airlines, acquires this business unit. In the meantime, Optym develops its second product for LTL for optimizing pickup & delivery.
2020 - 2024
Following the spin out of its airline unit and success in LTL, Optym develops a full suite of LTL products from planning to operations while working with 5 of the top 10 US LTL carriers. Optym also begins to translate its learnings from LTL into the much larger full truckload vertical with its flagship driver-to-load optimization product. In addition, Optym remains the leader in rail optimization.
